First Steps When a Tooth Is Knocked Out
We all have unexpected emergencies, but kids are especially prone to injury. A number of activities can damage teeth, whether running on the playground or playing a contact sport. Rest assured that we’ll do everything we can to restore your smile.
If an adult tooth is knocked out, make sure to do the following:
- Call our emergency number!
- Find the tooth and handle only the crown of the tooth. Never touch the root.
- If possible, place the tooth back in the socket. Otherwise, hold the tooth on the inside of the cheek.
- When no other option is available, place the tooth in some milk.
- Follow any other directions the dentist gives you.
When you come in for a dental emergency, we’ll help you feel comfortable and relax. We also offer dental sedation to help calm your nerves.
